First describe the key that remains, if any
A nonresponsive Infiniti fob may have a weak coin cell or damaged electronics; the car may instead have a low 12-volt battery or another vehicle-side fault. A start warning with the fob still present does not prove the key was lost from registration. If a second key starts the car, you have an additional-key question. If the only blade has broken but its electronics survive, keep the pieces and describe what works. In a genuine AKL situation no usable starting credential remains. I ask about buttons, dashboard messages and vehicle power to distinguish missing keys from a failed remote or an unrelated no-start.
Q50, QX60 and G-series need separate identification
An older G-series Infiniti can use a different ignition and electronic key arrangement from an equipped Q50 or QX60. Even within one nameplate, model years and equipment can alter the Intelligent Key generation and compatible part. Related Nissan technology is not proof that a Nissan fob will fit. Give the year, exact model, VIN, start method and any surviving case identifier or original key photo. I check the actual vehicle configuration, region and part suitability before suggesting a replacement. A similar-looking remote from another Infiniti may have different electronics even if its button layout matches.
Emergency blade, Intelligent Key and RKE each have a job
An equipped Intelligent Key may contain a mechanical insert for physical door access. That insert does not independently authorize push-button starting. On a conventional ignition Infiniti, a cut blade may operate the door and turn the ignition while the immobilizer still requires a recognized credential. Remote keyless entry buttons address lock and unlock, but response from those buttons does not prove that the starting system accepts the key. If the vehicle is locked, authorized entry may be needed before inspecting it. I discuss blade work, electronic starting and remote operation separately so the expected outcome is clear.
The all-keys-lost path is not an add-key path
When one registered Infiniti key still starts the vehicle, a professional additional-key service may be assessed. When none does, parts and authorized registration requirements must be established without a working reference. Some Intelligent Key service paths on certain vehicles can require previously recognized keys to be presented or re-registered; this is not a rule for every Infiniti or a promise that lost keys can be removed. Tell me about any surviving keys, even if they are not currently at the car. I check the exact platform and supported service before scheduling and cannot guarantee same-visit completion or a universal method.
A lost active fob is a separate security concern
If the missing Infiniti key may have been stolen, mention that when requesting service. A new fob that starts the car does not by itself prove the old one will no longer work. Options for credential handling depend on the specific vehicle and authorized service; mechanical door access by a missing blade is another matter. I explain supported options to the verified owner rather than promise that every old key can be deactivated. This question should be raised before the work, especially if you need to account for another household driver's surviving key during service.
Prepare the car's location and paperwork
Share the Infiniti's model, year, VIN and exact location, including whether it is locked and whether its battery appears charged. A photo of any old fob label, damaged case, mechanical insert or start-button area can help identify the request, but a photograph cannot guarantee electronic fit. Mention changed door locks or unusual market history. Registration or title and matching photo ID are required before access or key work. If these documents are inside the car, tell me before a visit so entry and authorization can be discussed. Owner-operated mobile availability is checked against the vehicle rather than assumed from the badge.
Check the result beyond a working door button
For supported work I check the new blade or insert on the intended lock where applicable, then verify the car recognizes the starting credential. On equipped Intelligent Key vehicles, expected proximity and push-button operation should be assessed. Lock and unlock are checked as remote functions; cargo or other optional controls only if the car has them and the correct part supports them. If a replacement opens the Infiniti but cannot start it, the AKL request remains unresolved. If recognition succeeds but a no-start persists, a different vehicle problem may require diagnosis.
Talk through the right Infiniti quote
The model's key architecture, physical access, correct part and authorized registration determine what can be offered. Service call starts at $49. Final pricing depends on the type of service, lock, vehicle, hardware, complexity of the job, and any required parts. I confirm the available Denver Metro mobile scope before a visit, without an Infiniti-wide time or price promise. If a registered starting key turns up, see the Infiniti car-key replacement page for spare-key context. For a missing final key, call with the exact vehicle information and ownership proof to discuss AKL availability.
