A missing Dodge key versus a no-start
A key that is physically present but will not start the vehicle is not automatically lost or unregistered. An ignition fault, weak 12-volt battery or other vehicle problem may cause a no-crank. If a proximity fob no longer responds, its coin cell or the car's power supply might be involved. A broken blade whose electronic portion survives is another distinct situation. Tell me which keys you still possess, what the dashboard shows, whether remote buttons work and if the vehicle has power. If any key starts it, this is an add-key or repair request, not all keys lost. That distinction protects you from ordering a replacement for the wrong symptom.
Grand Caravan and Journey don't define a Charger key
Dodge generations have included conventional chipped keys, integrated remote-head keys, electronic FOBIK-style ignition keys and equipped proximity fobs. The Grand Caravan, Journey, Charger and Durango can differ by model year, ignition equipment and security platform. A Charger remote with the expected silhouette cannot be presumed suitable for a Journey; even button packages differ. I ask for the VIN, model, year, trim and whether there is an ignition slot or start button. A photo of a surviving damaged key or readable fob identifier can help narrow a part, but the actual vehicle configuration still determines compatibility.
Separate entry buttons from Sentry Key authorization
Dodge remote lock and unlock buttons perform a different task from any electronic authorization the car requires to start. On a conventional keyed vehicle a metal blade may open a door and turn an ignition cylinder, but an equipped immobilizer must also recognize the proper credential. On certain FOBIK vehicles, the inserted electronic key has a starting function that cannot be inferred from button response. With an equipped proximity fob, a mechanical insert may provide entry while electronic recognition permits push-button starting. I define the needed functions up front so a cut blade or working door remote is not sold as a complete driving key.
Why losing the final key changes the options
A Dodge that still starts with one key can be assessed for a professional additional-key service. In AKL, there is no registered starting key to test or compare, so the authorized service path and compatible part must be checked for that vehicle. Security access and parts availability may vary across generations. I do not assume a method appropriate to a Grand Caravan fits a newer Charger, or that this vehicle can be finished on-site. Nor is there a single maximum number of Dodge keys that applies to all these systems. I confirm what is supported before making a mobile appointment.
Lost key, potentially stolen key
If somebody else might have the missing Dodge fob, mention that concern when you call. Receiving a new working fob does not by itself establish that a previously registered one can no longer start the car. Options for managing older electronic credentials are specific to the vehicle and authorized service available. A metal key or emergency blade can also remain a mechanical entry concern if the door locks have not changed. I discuss supported options with the verified owner rather than imply that replacing the key automatically resolves both starting and physical-access risks.
Information and documents before dispatch
Have the Dodge's year, model, VIN, parked location and type of ignition ready. Say whether the doors are locked, whether you can access the vehicle and whether its battery is charged. If you have a photo of the former key, a part label or a damaged fob, send it as a clue. Mention replaced locks, ignition work and aftermarket equipment. Registration or title plus matching photo ID are required for authorization before access or key work. If paperwork is inside the locked car, explain that when calling so a verification plan can be discussed before anyone travels.
Don't infer optional features from the buttons
Depending on model and equipment, a Dodge remote may have panic, trunk, liftgate or remote-start controls. A fob showing a button does not make its feature available on every Grand Caravan, Journey, Charger or Durango. Nor does a matching button layout establish that the electronics will be accepted. I check the intended part and the car's original equipment before discussing these functions. After supported work I verify start recognition, applicable door or blade operation and lock/unlock separately, then test optional buttons only if the vehicle actually supports them. If the car recognizes the key but still will not start, further vehicle diagnosis may be necessary.
A Dodge AKL quote is vehicle-specific
Scope can include physical access, a compatible key or fob, mechanical work and electronic authorization as applicable. Service call starts at $49. Final pricing depends on the type of service, lock, vehicle, hardware, complexity of the job, and any required parts. I discuss parts and mobile availability before a visit; there is no fixed Dodge-wide price or timeline. If a working original turns up, the Dodge car-key replacement article addresses spare and replacement choices. If none remains, call with the vehicle and documentation details for an owner-operated all-keys-lost assessment in Denver Metro.
