Transponder Keys in Denver Metro

A transponder key contains a small chip in the head that the vehicle's immobilizer must recognize before the engine will run. Many vehicles from the late 1990s onward use them, though the exact year varies by make and model. A blade copy without a programmed chip may open the door but won't start the car.

For many supported vehicles, yes, after ownership is verified. Whether a key code is available and whether the chip can be programmed on-site depends on the year, model and security system.

Service call starts at $49. Transponder keys are usually among the more affordable electronic key types; final pricing depends on the vehicle and whether you have a working key to add from.

For many vehicles, yes — adding a transponder key from a working original is a common request and usually simpler than a job with no working key.

Often, yes. Bring your OEM key or I can try to source one; I cut and program it on-site for supported vehicles.

In many cases. Compatible aftermarket transponder keys work reliably on many vehicles at a lower cost.

It depends on the vehicle. Adding a key is usually quicker than all-keys-lost work. I give an estimate once I know the vehicle.

The chip is usually durable, but the plastic head can crack. If the chip is intact it can sometimes be moved into a new housing; if not, a new key is programmed.
