Replacing a Chrysler Key Depends on the Vehicle
A Chrysler Town & Country with a FOBIK-style ignition key is very different from a newer Pacifica equipped with push-button start.
An older Chrysler 300 may also have a different ignition and immobilizer configuration from a later version of the same model.
This matters when replacing a lost key or adding a spare.
At Falcon Locksmith, I handle automotive key service inquiries across the Denver metro area. Before arranging a replacement, I check the model, year, ignition type, and whether any working keys remain.
The correct replacement needs to match the vehicle’s actual security system.
Chrysler Sentry Key and Immobilizer Systems
Chrysler has used several generations of electronic vehicle security.
Depending on the model, older vehicles may have SKIM or SKREEM-related immobilizer arrangements, traditional transponder keys, or other Sentry Key configurations.
Some Chrysler vehicles use an electronic ignition arrangement involving a Wireless Ignition Node, commonly called WIN.
These systems should not be confused with the proximity keys found on newer push-to-start models.
The electronic portion of a key communicates with the vehicle’s security equipment, allowing the system to recognize an authorized key.
A metal key blade alone does not necessarily provide the electronic authorization required to start the engine.
Chrysler FOBIK Keys
FOBIK-style keys are familiar to owners of certain Chrysler 300 and Town & Country vehicles.
Instead of using a conventional metal ignition key, these vehicles can use an electronic key inserted into a compatible ignition module.
The remote buttons may operate the door locks and other equipped functions, while the electronic key authorization allows the vehicle to start.
A FOBIK replacement must be compatible with the specific vehicle.
A similar-looking key from another Chrysler vehicle is not automatically suitable.
Chrysler All Keys Lost (AKL)
When all Chrysler keys are lost, the replacement process can differ from programming an additional key.
There is no working registered key available to use as part of an additional-key service.
Depending on the vehicle, a professional locksmith may need to prepare the correct replacement and complete an authorized registration procedure with the vehicle’s security system.
The requirements can differ significantly between a conventional transponder-key vehicle, a FOBIK-equipped Chrysler, and a newer smart-key model.
Availability is verified for the specific vehicle before service is confirmed.
Adding an Additional Chrysler Key
If you still have a working Chrysler key, an additional key may be registered using a professional procedure supported by that vehicle.
This is different from an AKL situation.
The appropriate process depends on the vehicle’s immobilizer generation and the type of key currently in use.
If you have only one working Chrysler key remaining, getting a spare can help avoid the inconvenience of losing the last functioning key.
Chrysler Smart Keys and Push-to-Start
Newer Chrysler vehicles may use Keyless Enter ’n Go and electronic proximity fobs.
These keys allow compatible vehicles to recognize an authorized remote without inserting a conventional ignition key.
The emergency mechanical blade, when provided, serves a separate physical-access function.
It does not independently replace the electronic authorization required to start the vehicle.
A replacement should be checked for compatible start and remote functions.

Key service inquiries are welcome for:
